Rivers Bend Health Services’ goal is to create an environment that affords our residents the opportunity to be a partner in the care they receive, to develop trusting relationships with our caregivers, and to reach their highest level of independence. We are passionate about making our center The Right Choice for you or your loved one.

Our center is located in the heart of Manitowoc and we have been serving Manitowoc and surrounding communities since 1997. We are proud to be part of the Manitowoc Chamber of Commerce and the Manitowoc Kiwanis Club.

In a recent customer satisfaction survey, we are proud to share that 100% of our residents indicated that their overall experience was good or excellent and they would choose Rivers Bend Health Services again if the need arose. We are also proud to be on the U.S. News & World Report Best Nursing Home list for 2018.

Leadership Team

Executive Director – Mike Wenzel

“Over the years, I have learned that the moments we remember most fondly are the small ones. It’s these small moments, a laugh with a resident or a smile from a co-worker or a hug from a family member, that remind us why we love what we do.”

Director of Social Services–Monica Thomas

“I enjoy the challenges and rewards of assisting our residents and families in achieving their goals and advocating for their needs and choices. I feel honored to create bonds and be let into the lives of others.”

Director of Rehabilitation–Holly Suszek

I truly enjoy working as a Speech Language Pathologist and Rehab Director in the skilled nursing setting. Helping our residents and patients regain their independence and improve their quality of life is very rewarding. I feel very fortunate to work in an industry that encompasses the ability to see patients transition from the hospital to skilled nursing, home health, and outpatient setting.”

Business Office Manager–Carol Ashenbrener

“My favorite thing about working in the skilled nursing industry is the continuing challenge to meet the needs of our elderly population and provide a safe and happy environment.”

Testimonials

“Everyone is very friendly. There are many activities to keep you out of trouble. Everyone calls you by name. Once you know everybody, you feel like a member of their family.”

– Kathryn Schwoerer, patient

“I made River’s Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center my home for the past two years. I received therapy and was able to return to my home, but I felt River’s Bend became my home and decided to stay. I am so spoiled here; I push my button and I can hear the staff run down the hall to tend to my every need. The staff and other people that live here are all fantastic. I enjoy all the different activities throughout the day. I feel so loved, safe and secure. I have no worries. I would not want to live anywhere else.”

– Joleen Wellner, patient

“River’s Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center is the next best thing to home. It is very, very clean, nice and quiet. The nursing service is great. The visiting hours are very flexible. Good food served with a smile. My doctor and wife had a lot to do with the decision to go to River’s Bend and I agreed. It is a good home.”

– William (Bill) Johnson, short stay rehabilitation patient

“River’s Bend Health and Rehab Center was able to help me through a difficult time in my life. I was in need of wound care and rehab. River’s Bend was able to supply me with both. This was my first time in a rehab center and I could not have gone to a better one. The therapists were wonderful and the nursing staff attentive. All of the staff was really nice and concerned about me. Now back at home, I continue to do out-patient therapy at River’s Bend. I would like to thank all the staff at River’s Bend for helping me get back home again.”
